Designed for both gym and crag climbing, the Petzl GRIGRI is a compact, lightweight belay device featuring cam-assisted blocking for belaying lead and top-rope climbers. Standard belay techniques are used for feeding slack and catching falls, keeping a hand on the brake side of the rope at all times. When a climber falls or weights the rope, the system tightens, causing the cam to pivot and pinch the rope to assist with braking. The ergonomic handle provides smooth descent control with a 3:1 mechanical advantage that reduces lowering effort. Compatible with dynamic single ropes from 8.5 to 11 mm, the GRIGRI features engraved rope installation diagrams on both interior and exterior surfaces for simple setup.
